Portrait of the author pondering his life choices |
How do you say "smooth move Exlax" in Spanish? Not more than one hour into my year-long visit to Spain and I make a classic bone-headed move by leaving my wallet in my taxi from the airport. I would probably be able to track it down if I a) knew the name of the driver; b) knew the name of the taxi company; c) had a receipt or paid by card. Unfortunately, my head was in the clouds and we paid with cash. By the time I realized what had happened, the taxi driver was Gone Johnson.
Oh well, I see this as a great opportunity for the following:
- To remind myself not to be an idiot (always welcome)
- To gain the valuable experience of contacting US customer service while abroad
- To be thankful I didn't lose my passport or any object of direct value
As I always say, "every stupid move I make is an opportunity to learn". This is something I've said quite a few times, which means only one thing: I am good at providing myself with learning opportunities.
Dude, that blows! But, at least you have gotten all of your bad luck out of the way on your first day! It'll be smooth sailing from here!
ReplyDelete¡Ay Dios mio! Apuesto a Jessica Casi te maté!
ReplyDeleteAmber, I was thinking the same thing. I (hopefully) can't screw up much more than this, eh?
ReplyDeleteDave, Jessica did an admirable job not punching me in the face. Although, I think she may enjoy being my sugar mama...
