Emma and Patrick in Madrid!

Our long time confidants, muses, and spiritual inspirations Emma and Patrick came to visit us in Madrid last month. Also, they are our really good friends. We spent some time in Toledo looking at swords and castles, got soaked to the bones at a Cervantes festival, and ate cooks from nuns. It was an awesome time. Below you will find some of my favorite pictures from their visit.

EXTREME CLOSE UP

A few selfies, of course

Look at these nerds

Some church, I suppose
A quick humorous story. After completely failing in navigating the train routes, we managed to find a medieval fair in honor of Cervantes. It wasn't as "medieval" as I was hoping, but it was pretty neat. When we first arrived, however, we were bombarded with some of the strongest rain I've seen in Spain. We took shelter under a food tent and proceeded to accidentally order roughly 10 pounds of meat. We managed to stay sort of dry and finish a good portion of our food. We kind of felt like fools for ordering so much meat, but then we started to notice that everyone around us was doing the same thing. A couple next to us ordered the same plate, and when it arrived, they just starred at it in horror for a few moments.

The rain is starting to come down

Ah, excessive amounts of barbecued meat, exactly what Cervantes was famous for.

The Spanish LOVE candy

It actually turned out to be a fairly beautiful day

Poor little guy

A hawk, because, why not?

I pretended to take a picture of Emma so that I could capture this man: the loneliest squire
